Samsung Electronics East Africa has partnered with home appliances store, Housewife’s Paradise, to collect e-waste for recycling in Kenya. As part of a joint effort on environmental conservation, the e-waste collection will commence in the capital, Nairobi, before rolling out countrywide by the end of the year.

The program will be rolled out in the capital city of Nairobi and will be scaled to the rest of the country by end-2023. The launch is on the sidelines of the United Nations World Environment Day celebrations.

Under the new program, Housewife’s Paradise will collect Samsung-brand e-waste. The e-waste thus collected will be then delivered to WEEE Centre- the official recycling partner of Samsung in the country, where they will be recycled in environment-friendly manner in conformation to set global standards.

The electronics major urged customers to ensure that their electronic waste is properly disposed of through the right channels, in such a way that they do not cause harm to environment and future generations.

Mr. Ronald Mitei, the Head of Service Division at Samsung noted that the company has been dedicated to responsible e-waste management for the last few years. The company’s e-waste recycling program is an important part of its commitment to minimize negative environmental impacts of its products. The collaboration with Housewife’s Paradise testifies their shared dedication to sustainable practices, Mitei added.
